Artists impression of Green Square developments

Strategic sites

There are currently several key urban renewal sites across under development or review across the City –Green Squareand Barangaroo are the most important.

We see Barangaroo as crucial to our Cultural Ribbon project, which will connect cultural venues around the harbour with a public foreshore walk so Sydneysiders and visitors can enjoy the harbour from Woolloomooloo to Glebe.

The site is currently under review by the NSW Government. Since it was first proposed, the City has advocated for it to feature more public transport, reduced commercial floor space, and environmentally-sustainable design – and we continue to do so.

We want the same for the 278-hectare Green Square. Here the City is able to oversee the sustainable development of the site. We’re aiming for Green Square to deliver social, community and cultural benefits and attract a mix of investors, designers, owners and occupiers.
