Green living
Our future depends on all of us leading more sustainable lifestyles. Australians leave a large environmental footprint per capita, mainly due to the burning of fossil fuels for energy, our high water consumption and generation of waste that goes to landfill.
We organise a range of cool programs and workshops so residents can learn more about living sustainably in the City and share their knowledge with others. Workshops topics including upcycling, biodiversity in your backyard, organic gardening, worm farming, chemical-free homes and growing food in small spaces.
We’re even investigating the options for a City Farm in Central Sydney to inspire residents to grow their own food, compost, recycle and save water and energy.
Recently we purchased 1-5 Flinders Street at Taylor Square and Reverse Garbage has set up shop there. The organisation encourages people to re-position ‘waste’ and get creative.
Towards 2030, we’re promoting green living to:
- make Sydney environmentally sustainable
- help residents use less resources and save money
- bring people together to share information and knowledge.
Sydney 2030: green, global and connected. Go to the strategic directions.
